I realize I’m writing this an hour after Christmas at this point, but it’s been an eventful day, to say the least! I hope everyone had an incredibly relaxing holiday, filled with loved ones, warm food and a bit of reflection on the past year.
I enjoyed all of the above, mixed in with hours of appreciation and play time with my one-year-old nephew; a relaxing massage at the spa, sprinkled with a few thoughtful gifts from my fam.
the CUTEST nephew you ever did see! |
And given how truly blessed and fortunate I am on a daily basis, I never ask for, or expect very much on Christmas when it comes to gifts. In fact, our unspoken sentiment is usually something along the lines of: small tokens that show we care–but since we’re fortunate enough to treat ourselves to fabulous things throughout the year, Christmas gifts aren’t ever too extravagant or over-the-top. Which, actually, is a great philosophy, because it alleviates a lot of holiday shopping anxiety. And truth be told, none of us really needs anything, so it puts things nicely into perspective.
Expectations are low, appreciation is high.
This year, though, I was delighted to unwrap a few gifts that were filled with sentiment and thoughfulness: a pair of gorgeous pearl earrings, my first pair of TOMS (lace crochet, the only style I’d ever wear), a Snuggie (for real, I’ve been wanting one because I am ALWAYS so cold), a digital picture frame loaded with photos of my nephew (I’m obsessed!) and a sparkling little necklace with my initials on it.
Simple, sweet and totally sensible. Thanks family–I’m a lucky girl, indeed.
What did you get for Christmas?
