This morning I received a phone call from one of my best friends and I knew what she was going to tell me before I even picked up. She’s ENGAGED.
Now, to be fair, almost all of my girlfriends are already married, engaged, or in serious relationships; and I’ve always been thrilled for each of them, but with this particular friend, it really warmed my heart like never before. I screamed out loud. Literally. Her news just meant more to me in this moment for some reason.
A little background–I’ve counted her as one of my best friends for over ten years now, and among the several things we have in common is our love of dresses, weddings, adorable details and living out our dreams to their fullest. Annie is creative and charismatic and an exciting thrill ride to be around. Really! I’ve always known that her wedding would be a special one (and just might rival my own one day!)
We bonded instantaneously when we first met in college and to be honest, my four years at Pepperdine wouldn’t have been the same without her by my side as we shared our ambitious, fantastically fluffy visions for what our futures (careers, husbands, wedding days, kids, we covered it all!) would be like one day.
And to know that she’s found the man of her dreams and will be spending the rest of her life with him is probably the most endearing news a close friend can hear. And her ring? Is so her. Unique and pretty with an exciting twist. He actually did some sleuthing on her Pinterest (yes, really! What a smart cookie!) and got her the exact ring she wanted. So sweet.
Which brings me to my point of this entire entry…love is in the air.
The holiday season is usually such a magical and exciting time, but amidst the unspeakable tragedies our nation has been facing this season, it’s starting to feel like a grim world full of unpleasantness and scary scenarios.
In light of all this, I’m touched to know that despite whatever happens out there, my girlfriends have guys who will honor and protect them…and that dreams really do come true. (And hey, if anyone knows of any successful, charming eligible bachelors in the L.A. area I should meet, by all means, e-mail me!) 😉 #NoReallyImSerious.
On that note, a few sparklies I adore:
(in short: dainty, delicate band, sizable sparkly cushion cut, rose gold or canary diamond entirely welcome, too!)
A girl can dream, right?
