Every few years, I find myself back in Montreal, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. As you may have guessed, I am obsessed with all things French, so escaping to Montreal is like being in Paris without the unbearably long flight. Don’t get me wrong, the flight to Montreal from LA is still pretty terrible, but that’s precisely why I always make sure I stay for several days to soak the city up. The fresh markets make LA’s farmers markets look measly in comparison, and the fresh, local produce is remarkable all on its own.
Of course, I indulged in some pretty terrific meals (Salmigondis in Little Italy is a must!) and took in all of the sights, of course. New discoveries this trip include Bota-Bota Spa (fashioned out of an old ferry boat), taking a ride on La Grande Roue de Montreal and exploring the interactive alleyway, otherwise known as Cite Memoire. I enjoyed a charming stay at the sweet St. Sulpice Hotel in Old Montreal, just around the corner from Notre-Dame Basilica.
