When it comes to eyeshadow, I hate to admit it, but I’m kind of a chicken. Despite the many many, many palettes, compacts and containers overflowing my dresser (a.k.a. my beauty bar), I tend to reach for the same old shades day after day. I rarely, rarely veer far from smudging some combination of subtle gold, champagne or taupe on my lids, no matter the occasion. If I’m feeling crazy, I might throw in a deeper copper or mossy brown in the mix, but I never stray from the neutral tones.
Recently, a lovely publicist friend sent over a stash of MAC cosmetics to my apartment; a wide assortment of highly pigmented products. I quickly distributed them out to my more daring sisters and friends, knowing that I wouldn’t make use of them anyway.
On a whim, I kept one bold blue shadow to myself, a sample called Night Dream (it might still be in production or discontinued, because I can’t find it online or in stores anywhere). Believe it or not, this shadow is my new favorite, as it artfully creates a sexy, smoky eye, without being too smoky. (Black and charcoal eye shadow kinda scare me, too.) It’s just intense enough (for evening or day time), without screaming all-out sexpot.
Fabulous!
