After nearly three months of living in Paris, my hair has taken a bit of a beating. The windy cold weather hasn’t exactly been kind to my long color-treated tresses; and I use a blowdryer and a curling iron on it almost daily.
Even with my arsenal of hair serums and leave-in detanglers, I’ve been noticing that my hair has been looking a little tired and dried out lately with all of the recent abuse. By the end of December, I always try to give my hair some kind of hydrating treatment for the nourishing boost that it needs.
I decided to get a nourishing PHYTO hair treatment at a nearby salon (Salon Patrick Ales, just off the Franklin D. Roosevelt metro stop) to rejuvenate my locks, and had high hopes that I’d walk out with a refreshed mane, just in time for the holiday season.
The newly-renovated salon is absolutely stunning and the staff couldn’t be nicer. I felt right at home as I tied on my pink robe and settled in for a Parisian beauty experience.
I was first introduced to PHYTO hair care nearly a decade ago when I was a young editor at InStyle.com in New York City, and remember loving a lot of their styling products back then. Admittedly, I haven’t explored the range in recent years, but I decided now was the best time to get reacquainted with PHYTO since it’s a French line and I’m now living in Paris.
I was welcomed into the salon and after a quick consultation on the condition of my hair, Lucile got to work on creating a wonderfully relaxing treatment that I never wanted to end.
She used the Phytopollene botanical treatment all over my scalp and hair and I was immediately put at ease. It smells incredible, and there’s nothing better than a long scalp massage! She did this intriguing method of rapidly twirling my hair while applying the oil to ensure that it was evenly coated from base to ends.
My hair absolutely soaked it all in, it felt like it was in such dire need of serious hydration.
She focused on the entire length of my hair, and explained that clients of any hair type or concerns can come in for a customized treatment.
After thoroughly coating my hair with PHYTO oils, I was left to steam to let everything penetrate in before it was all shampooed out.
By the way, the shampoo chair at the salon actually massages your back as they rinse out all of the oils, and I definitely fell asleep once or twice during this part of the fabulous service. If only the shampoo chairs in our salons in the U.S. gave kneading back massages during every shampoo.
Then I sat back and had the best blowout of my life, and was amazed at how shiny, bouncy and smooth my hair was immediately after this treatment.
Thank you PHYTO and Lucile for a wonderful experience! If you’re ever in Paris, I highly recommend you pop in to the salon for a rejuvenating experience that your hair will thank you for!
