With the amount of traveling and social functions I pack into my daily lifestyle, a lot of people often ask me how I do it all in style.
The truth is, I’ve pared down a lot and have built a “capsule wardrobe” that has stood the test of time. This means editing down your clothes and accessories to the must-have items that are reliable, flattering, classic and suited to your personality.
The little black dress in the photo above has been in my closet for years, but it’s so timeless, I’ll probably never throw it out. I also know that it will typically work for any occasion.
Furthermore, every piece in your capsule wardrobe should fit well, be versatile and exude your personal style at a moment’s notice.
Below is an easy guide to help you narrow down your focus so you can maximize your fashion choices and organize your wardrobe to suit your lifestyle easily and effortlessly:
And lastly, I have to say: less is more! I am always giving packing tips to my girlfriends who feel the need to bring their entire closets with them in huge suitcases when they travel. Just say no!
I usually only pack ONE compact carry-on suitcase for any and all trips, and just got back from 15 days of travel using just ONE small carry-on roller bag.
HOW?
By knowing my wardrobe, editing it down to ONLY the essentials that I love and know will always look good, and being smart about my purchases.
Whether you gravitate towards women’s pants or feminine dresses for daily wear, build up that side of your capsule wardrobe and save room and money on the items that you know you only wear occasionally.
Hope this helps and good luck organizing! I promise it’s well worth it.
