Hi loves,
It’s been a busy few days out here and London Fashion Week craziness is in full swing!
I popped by the PPQ show backstage to check out the hair and makeup look for the show, and had a lovely time chatting with the brilliant lead stylist Jon Reyman (of Spoke & Weal Salon back in LA and NYC) who created an over-the-top look for the runway.
“This is a statement! The look is very ’60s-inspired: it’s more of a rocker girl who likes a lot of volume and texture,” Reyman explained of the inspiration behind the elaborate style.
“It’s a structured look with a lot of texture, it’s strong, edgy and graphic. It takes a lot of courage to pull this off.”
As for achieving this updo, Reyman, who used the new Dyson hair dryer and all Aveda styling products backstage, warns that it’s not for novices.
“It’s a super technical style that isn’t easy to do at home. It requires a lot of backcombing and it’s very structured.”
The thrill of the backstage is always an exciting place to be, but nothing is more magical than seeing it all come together with the final look on the runway.
