‘ello from London!
So it’s been a busy week settling into life here in London, and I’ve done quite a bit of moving, running around and meeting new friends. It definitely wasn’t as easy to adjust to a new city this time around (Paris was much calmer in that respect), as I was temporarily sharing an Airbnb with a friend for the first week and looking at a dozen or so flats and moving around before I found a more long-term ‘home’ for myself.
Moving abroad is such an incredible experience, and now I can say that I’ve been lucky enough to find this incredible co-living and co-working habitat called Roam, where I now call home.
Situated in the adorable Chelsea neighborhood, the building houses a bunch of us young professional types/self-employed digital nomads/solo travelers from all around the world. It’s only been a few days living here, but I already think it’s one of the best life experiences I’ll ever have! Everyone has their own brand new studio/suite to themselves and we share a communal lounge, kitchen and work space, too.
I am definitely looking forward to more adventures here with my fellow Roamies–it’s like chic adult dorm life all over again! The other night we had a family dinner of paella and sangria followed by games into the wee hours, so it was a lot of fun and great way to feel connected to a lot of different people from different parts of the globe. Happy to report that I also successfully cooked one of the paella dishes and it was a hit.
Beyond settling into my new flat, I also went out and explored the city a bit more. I visited The National Gallery, and enjoyed a long afternoon alone staring at gorgeous works of art. I loved seeing several of the pieces that I studied in high school and college and geeked out when I finally witnessed Jan Van Eyck’s Arnolfini Portrait up close. It’s always been one of my favorites.
More adventures in London await–I’ll be back soon with updates!
xx
