Have you ever tried a cupping massage?
I had my very first one last week in Beverly Hills at The Spa on Rodeo, and I can say with certainty that I am now totally hooked.
I didn’t exactly know what to expect when I was escorted to my massage room by my therapist (Jennifer), but she quickly explained that it would involve a combination of a traditional massage with her hands so she could sense where I needed alleviation, followed by cupping, which would pull blood to a region to stimulate healing.
I stretched out on the bed face down and hoped for the best.
I was immediately relaxed at the touch of her hands and the cupping execution was masterfully done. I will say it was the weirdest feeling at first; as if someone was uncomfortably pinching you hard, but then your body eases into it and evolves into a very relaxing sensation unlike anything else.
You’ll have to try it for yourself!
The suction draws the blood to the surface of the skin, which stimulates new blood flow and reduces inflammation. Jennifer moved the cups around the entire length of my body and even used various sizes of cups to get the ultimate healing results during my treatment.
Before I knew it, the cupping massage was complete and I had never felt so relaxed before in my life!
Of course, I emerged from the massage with plenty of red cupping marks all over my back, but they completely disappeared on their own within a few days. Thank goodness it’s winter, and I could easily cover up the marks with long sleeves.
