Hi loves!
I wanted to do a quick post on the classic fashion and beauty staples I rely on to look and feel glam while living abroad. You may recall that I already did a Paris packing list and a beauty favorites post previously, but this time I’m talking about the beautiful yet practical basics I personally have on daily rotation, no matter where I am this time of year.
Because I am currently living out of two suitcases for three months, I’ve really had to pare down my fashion and beauty choices and live quite practically for a few months. While I am quite used to swimming in excessive amounts of shoes, clothes, accessories and beauty products (hey, don’t hate the player, hate the game! J/K, lol. THANK YOU fashion/beauty industry for always taking such wonderful care of me) in LA; but here in Paris, it’s a different story.
Here’s how I feel Jenn Chan Glam every single day:
CHANEL Caviar Leather Classic Flap Bag
I received this gorgeous purse as a college graduation gift over a decade ago, and it’s still my favorite possession to this day. It never goes out of style, and it always reminds me how a good investment goes a long way. The caviar is much more durable than the lambskin, and the size and shape is perfect for a girl on the go. Dressed up or down, this bag is flawless in every way.
BLONDO WATERPROOF OVER-THE-KNEE SUEDE BOOTS
When I decided to move to Paris, I knew I needed a pair of reliable flat boots that could coordinate with a myriad of wintery outfits without sacrificing comfort. It also rains almost daily here, so I knew a waterproof option would be smart. I did a bit of online research, and ordered these Blondo boots from Nordstrom
on a whim. I packed them for Paris with the highest of hopes. Luckily, I picked a great pair of boots that I wear every single day and pair well with dresses, skirts, skinny jeans and leggings. I could have done without all of the other shoes I brought on this trip and survived on these babies alone.
BATTINGTON BARDOT LASHES
This wouldn’t be a proper JennChanGlam post without a shout-out to my favorite pair of silk lashes. The Bardot style makes me feel like a million bucks, which is critical when you’re facing the world every single day on your own. Best of all, they take seconds to apply and last for several weeks of wear with proper care.
ANIISE BLACK GEL EYELINER
You guys know I don’t leave the house without winged eyeliner on, and I am pleased to report that this is the holy grail of gel eyeliner! Aniise is a natural line of cosmetics and this liner lasts forever and is the inkiest black I’ve ever come across. The packaging is brilliant because it comes with a brush (THAT ACTUALLY WORKS AND IS PERFECT FOR LINING THE EYES), so I really couldn’t have asked for more. I’ve tried all the usual culprits including NARS, MAC and Bobbi Brown, and Aniise is still my favorite, hands down.
MAGASCHONI CASHMERE SCARF
You may be noticing a trend here. All of my essentials are black, it’s true! But hey, I know what I like, and I like to keep things classically JennChanGlam!
That goes for my scarf, as well. I have a simple black cashmere scarf by Magaschoni, and it’s the most practical gift I never knew I wanted. It’s super lightweight and compact, but is also ridiculously warm when I need it in a pinch. I can usually toss it in my handbag, and it makes a great lap blanket or shawl for plane rides, too. It’s not too cumbersome and can elegantly pair with a dress or jeans without any fuss.
For a touch of extra glamour, I also have this luxe faux fur stole from Zara.
MAC LIPSTICK: D FOR DANGER
I never wear reds. Or so I thought. The day before I flew to Paris for this adventure, I decided to pick out a bold new lipstick to go with this bold new chapter of life. I ended up with D for Danger by MAC, and the second I swiped it on, it just felt right. I’ve never felt comfortable in reds (I’m a pink girl, let’s get real), but this matte berry brick-red, felt much more approachable than other shades I’ve tried. It changes my whole attitude when I have it on, so that in itself is pretty powerful, no?
This flirty shade will forever remind me of my days in Paris, and I always feel a little sexier when I have it on.
And voila! There you have it–everyday glam made simple and accessible!
So let’s compare notes: What style essentials do you own that always make you feel glam?

xx Jenn
