I’m not one for shameless self-promotion, but I just received an award at my amazing alma mater, Pepperdine University, and wanted to share the good news!
I am truly SO honored to be recognized for my career achievements and presence as a proud alumna. I’ve gone back to speak to the students about my career a few times, simply to share my experiences, insight and encouragement for those wanting to pursue careers in the fashion and entertainment industries. In some ways, it doesn’t feel like that long ago that I was
sitting in their seats, eager and anxious to make my mark in the world (and wondering how in the world I ever would!);
and in other ways, I feel like a wise old senior citizen reminiscing about the good old days. Ha!
Anyway, let it be known that I could sing praises about Pepperdine all day long, and I attribute much of who I am today and the important relationships I’ve cultivated and maintained over the years to the experiences I had on campus in beautiful Malibu.
And while I know many people don’t quite feel the same warm fuzziness about their colleges, I pride myself in believing that Pepperdine gave me a unique experience not found at bigger schools. I was supported and encouraged by my professors and fellow students to rise up and follow my dreams steadfastly, and I couldn’t be more thankful for the experiences I had in college.
Needless to say, I give kudos to my college every chance I can, and as this was the first year the university presented the Young Alumni Awards, I was overjoyed to be a recipient! I was joined by other (super amazingly successful) alums Seth Haye, Madison Hildebrand (of Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing) and Michelle Fields (of The Daily Caller.)
It was a special day, indeed.
